Value of B lines score on lung ultrasound as a direct measure of respiratory dysfunction and volume overload in critical care patients with acute kidney injury

نویسندگان

چکیده

Background: Fluid overload is commonly detected in critically ill cases with AKI and accompanied by serious outcome. Lung US (LUS) an efficiently used tool to assess volume noninvasively. We assessed the importance of these measurements combination, for estimation PaO2/FiO2 ratio critical patients AKI.The aim study: To evaluate value B-lines on chest ultrasound predicting respiratory dysfunction relation between B lines po2/fio2 acute kidney injury patients.Patients methods: This was a prospective observational study which 40 who were presented admission or developed at any time during ICU stay determined based KDIGO criteria according RIFLE classification. Cases studied baseline as well following 48 hrs using lung US, addition measuring arterial blood gases. Results: The showed negative correlation score, this kept even adjustment. A cut 15 score has sensetivity 94% specificity 77.3% detecting PaO2/ FiO2 less than 300.Conclusion: It can be concluded that predict AKI.

critical period effects in foreign language learning:the influence of maturational state on the acquisition of reading, writing, and grammar in english as a foreign language

since the 1960s the age effects on learning both first and second language have been explored by many linguists and applied linguists (e.g lennerberg, 1967; schachter, 1996; long, 1990) and the existence of critical period for language acquisition was found to be a common ground of all these studies. in spite of some common findings, some issues about the impacts of age on acquiring a second or...

Validity of Spo2/Fio2 Ratio in Detection of Acute Lung Injury and Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome

Introduction:  One ofdiagnostic criteria for Acute Lung Injury and Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome is  pao2/fio2 (PF) ratio 300 for ALI or 200 for ARDS. This criteria requires invasive arterial sampling. Measurement of Spo2/Fio2 (SF) ratio by pulseoximetry may be a reliable non invasive alternative to the PF ratio.   Methods and Materials: In a cross sectional study we enrolled 105 sample o...

Interpreting lung ultrasound B-lines in acute respiratory failure.

Th e article in this issue of CHEST (see page 1586) by Bataille et al 1 on thoracic and lung ultrasonography (LUS) is of high interest. Th is study has the great merit of going in the right direction. To date, scientists explored the potential of LUS alone because it represents a new paradigm. Now, it is time to move on and explore how LUS may further improve diagnostic workup by combining it w...

Lung Injury Prediction Score Is Useful in Predicting Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome and Mortality in Surgical Critical Care Patients

Background. Lung injury prediction score (LIPS) is valuable for early recognition of ventilated patients at high risk for developing acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS). This study analyzes the value of LIPS in predicting ARDS and mortality among ventilated surgical patients. Methods. IRB approved, prospective observational study including all ventilated patients admitted to the surgical...
